Did you have any problems before the switch in oil? If you did not, try going back to regular Rotella T 15W40. Not advocating that you break the speed limit, but when it starts doing this, put tow haul on and really work the motor, (try to keep it in high boost, accel, decell letting the trans keep the turbo spooled up.) The oil is what I run, and have not had any issues with it.
The smoking problems started at about 600 miles on the truck with ford oil in it and stock exhaust....I changed the exhaust cat back only to 4" silverline system with a 5" tip...The only reason i changed the exhaust is to eliminate the howling noise from the stock exhaust muffler at 1500 rpm's...Ford knows about this ennoying noise....Otherwise no other mods....Like i said it seems to happen only when the truck is not level....up slant and at idle in gear....After i'm moving again it clears out and could be fine all day....as long as the engine is heated up without any cool down...It sometimes happens after extended idling over 15 minutes...

The dealer did several tests..They did an injector test and they checked the EGR and found nothing wrong....I personally don't thinks it mechanical...I believe for some reason when the truck is on a up slant..a sensor is telling the computer to add additional fuel to compensate for the angle..The smoke is unburned fuel...an excessive amount...The smell could choke you
I currently run Delvac 1300 5W40 and am going to switch to synthetic as soon as my oil supply runs out. I'm looking at Mobile 1 SUV 5W40. I fill up on Citgo near the Mass Pike (always fresh, trucker bays) and in town at Sunoco (again fresh, lots of local truckers). I just started using Diesel Kleen, especially now with a new EGR and Turbo. I'm at 38K now and will also go to synthetic trans fluid too. I always talk to the tech and know every one up front quite well. I started my career wrenching and latter dispatching, so I know the business and drills. I am currently a Customer Service Engineer with a manufacturing plant that produces complicated million dollar systems that run 24/7 for 20-30 years, so I'm familiar to customer satisfaction issues, especially with that price tag and expected longevity! I am on call 24/7 and maintain a local facility, so I'm active in the field, which is the best way to be. I sometimes design/redesign fixes, generate Service Bulletins and have designed new products when I wore a different hat. I am the equivalent to the Ford Rep/Engineer in my business. Customer satisfaction is key to survive in a business that doesn't sell you something on a frequent basis so that you will buy from them again. I warranty items daily that are no longer covered, but the circumstances call for fairness and that is what keeps them coming back. Sometimes them hounding you (squeaky wheel) renders them a fix or bending over backwards or just eating the cost. As long as you are not abusing the system you will likely find satisfaction. BTW, I drive about 12 hours a week commuting and drive it like I stole it! If you are keeping up with me, you are winding it up too, no matter what you drive. I am confident that I will get my issues resolved and make a few friends on the way. My dealership supports me and I will always buy from them. Most 6.0s run great (only a few actually have issues) and I just want it back to the way it was, it ran perfect for the first 32K.
Downsized2x, I will have to take some videos of this problem ,then turn them into ford..My dealer said they can't fix what they can't see...That road with the hill mentioned in my last post is a perfect specimen....

When this first started, the road that I consistently saw it on was too far away. The problem got worse and would happen more frequently. I lost a lot of time because I didn't show the tech how to make the conditions favorable to witness the smoke. They drop everything for diesel ambulances, so I missed a couple of chances. Besides, I didn't have to drive very far to see it myself, so I figured he must have seen it. The last time I brought in, I was early and made sure that I showed him. When I picked it up, no smoke, just this new surging issue. It goes back in Monday.
