Why are you taking the GEM off? Did you download the module configuration first? Do you mean the bulkhead connectors to the fuse panel or the actual GEM plugs?
I took one off a Excursion, There is a screw that hold the plug on it that take like a 8mm socket. It took me 2 hours to R&R it... Take your time and look on there it's there.

You sure your not thinking of the PCM with that 8mm bolt on the connector? Just curious.
the g.e.m. module is on the back of the fuse panel. un-bolt the fuse panel ( 10mm bolts ) and this will allow you to turn the fuse panel slightly and give you more room to get your hand on the release clips ( no bolts ) for the plug on the module. for those inquiring minds...by unplugging it, it resets it. this will cure a lot of ghost complaints with misc electrical devices it controls. hope this helps.
