Confusing GEM information.. Help!

Hello, Ive got a bad GEM in a 98 explorer xlt and was wondering if get a good used GEM from the same year, model ect... would it need to be flashed?? Thanks...

the best I can find out is some years are plug and play and some have to be programed .you have to check with a dealer to find out .if you can get it cheap enough I would try it.

I seem to recall that a new one for my 2003 Superduty ran about $150.00. Miine was just plug and play.
