External Temp wrong - climate control won't work -- could use your ideas!
We did put a scan tool on it when it was malfunctioning and were able to read the external sensor (it was about right). Also, the scan tool seemed to reset the temp display and all of a sudden it worked (for a few hours).
So far, we have had 2 external temp sensors, one new climate control computer and head, and recharged the entire system. No change. Dealer is working hard, but at a loss. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Many thanks!
I would have done exactly what you say the dealer has done. How long have you had the truck? Has this been an issue from the beginning or something that popped up after a period of time? Was there any service done to the truck right before this happened? Had you made any changes to the truck before this happened?
Thanks for your response. I have had the truck since May, 05 and this has been an issue from the start. In South Dakota, we do not get too much hot weather, so I did not catch the A/C issue until June. I have made zero changes to the truck and now have about 8,500 miles on it. Only services have been oil changes, a reflash to address a transmission downshift issue and the work on the A/C issue. There was no change to the A/C after the reflash.
Thanks again.
My wife had an issue, close but not exactly as you described with an 05 explorer. It has a dual air control (his/her). It would come out the right temp on mine but her side was HOT! They found an accuator motor was bad for the blend door, the blend door was replaced, and found a pinched vacuum line. Over 2 tries. Has been fine ever since. See if this helps. And please let us know what they find when it is corrected. GOOD LUCK!!! Have them also check the climate control harness for maybe a possible ground.
