I need to get some new suspension for my F100. Sometimes when i go over bumps, it sounds like everything is going to fall apart, since everything is sooo old and a lil rusted. Seeing how only the rear half of my chassis is a F100, im looking for some new suspension components like leaf springs. Anybody know some good companies i could look into?
I purchased mine from Eaton Springs. Very happy. If you want original, check with Mid Fifties, Sacramento Vintage. They have a good selection of springs. Your springs may be OK, check out the bushings, etc. They tend to wear out first.
Definitely check out the spring bushings and hangers. You may have some cracked spring leafs (leaves???) that will cause the rear to sag. Worn bushings and/or brackets, however, will cause the rear end to bang around and even move sideways if they are really worn.
yea i think my bushings in the rear are pretty shot. The truck was put together about 15 years ago, then it sat for 12 years before i got it. The rear is really bouncy and does tend to bounce sideways sometimes, atleast it feels like it.
I was able to find al the bushings, pins, etc and have my springs rebuilt at a local suspension shop. check your local yellow pages before anything else
