Leaf springs

Im looking for some opinions here, I have a 66 f100 and the rear springs feel like there out of a dump truck. The factory springs are only about 2.25in wide and seeing as I can only find springs that fit with a 4"lift im thinking of fabbing up some 3"wide leafs so I can ditch the blocks. My question is, what springs flex nice? I ultimately want deavers but thats a while down the road so if you guys can suggest a few companies that would be great. Maybe a company has a 3" leaf kit with mounts and shackles?

Deaver has the top of the line if your looking for quality. I doubt there's any better.

You get what you pay for.. all I can say, i'm not sure there's a real good median here.

Maybe your springs are sagging and you have a terrible shackle angle?

If you go through the work changing springs, 63/64'' shivvys are the way to go.

Did someone say CHEVY? Lol I think your lost little guy hehe. Even if my springs are worn I still need new ones and might as well change to something thats readily available.

Seems to be a good upgrade for the rear leafs because of length.
I could care less where they came from lol.
But I doubt i'll ever get them. I'm just not that into ride quality or flex. :P

do you have any lift on that truck? if so how much, or how much are you planning to go? i'd look into a set of stock springs and mounts off of an 80-96 f150 and get a ruffstuff shackle flip. 80-96 factory springs are killer soft and flexy in my opinion, and could possibly be a bolt on deal besides the 4 hole you need to drill for the flip kit.

just an idea.

Yeah dan theres a 4" block that im trying to get rid of, I dont think it will be bolt on because my springs look pretty skinny but i think I can cut off and use the perches off the donor truck. Im going to the junk yard next weekend and ill take some measurements and pictures while i search for a fan shroud and overflow. All I know is these springs gota go, it rides pretty good with a 460 long block over the axle lol.

if i remember right, the 80-96's came with 2 different width springs. a 2.5'' and a 3''. if your mounts aren't rusted out to high hell you could possibly heat them with a torch and make them work with a 2.5'' spring. i know it's kind of ghetto bootyfab, but it could possibly work.

Tinian, I have more Ford's than just my F350. The F350 is just the only vehicle that I have done a lot to. I also have a '97 Ranger I wheel on the trails quite a lot. It has probably got more use then the F350 ever has. But it's barely lifted with stock bumpers and such, no winche or on board air.. so it's not exciting enough to talk about haha.
