What's good to eat if you have a severe burn?

What helps it heal?

(I have a very good reason to ask, don't ask)

There are things skin is made of, and a healing process that uses them. What are the best sources of this kind of stuff?

I need them....

Vitamin E will help. Eat foods with lots of it.

I've heard Zinc. Also eat fatty fish such as Halibut, it's high in Omega-3, which moisturizes. Whole wheat is good for the zinc, which is essential for making collagen (fibrous part of skin). Cantaloupe which makes Vitamin A, which is essential for growth and repair of skin tissue. Spinach is also rich in Vitamin A and Vitamin C which will be good for the skin after the burn is gone because it's an antioxidant. Also spinach has B Vitamins which helps prevent itching, rashes, and dry skin.

Tequila . . . rum is a close second.

If it's a fresh burn also try using a lot of pure aloe vera gel topically. This will help take the pain away. Romer's vitamin suggestions are excellent, if you don't eat fish go buy some pure flax oil or fish oil capsules and eat them by the hand full.

Did I mention tequila?

Haha I have that song "Tequila" by the Pretenders in my head now. Flax oil is good, but if you want the best don't get the capsules, get it fresh from a health food store. This stuff has a shelf life of about 2 weeks. But you drink it, and you can't taste it, so add it into your OJ which would be another good source of Vitamin C. And Niacin would be good too.. it's high in the Vitamin B complex. Just don't take Niacin without eating a meal first.

Got vitamin C and E, also Aloe Vera gel (WITH lanacain, thank God).
JARS of multi vitamin/mineral supps, and I had some BEER around here, but was worried about drying out the bod.

Nonetheless, HAD is the operative term. I should explore that when the stores open up...

Mass Q's of vitamin C go strangely well with a big mug of Earl Grey in the morning!

I gotta meet this Ivan character some day - sounds like an old friend and accomplice of mine

Charbroil a big ol juicy, medium rare steak, taters and fresh corn on the cob.

If it doesn't actually help with the healing at least you'll be satisfied and happy...and that ain't all bad. Attitude goes a long way.

something that isn't for eating but is generally pretty effective is bag balm or otherwise known as udder balm, found in many farm staores. Intended for cattle udders, it works well for healing skin.
