I have a 2006 F-350 coming in next week, and I noticed while looking through the lot that the trucks are missing the fender liners entirely on the rear, and are incomplete in the front.
I have searched the forum, and asked my contact at the dealer about them. He stated that he did not recommend them because since they were only attached at two points, his experience was that they fell off easily.
I know through the search that some of the members here have added the actual Ford part afterward (doesn't have to be MY 2006), and was wondering what your opinion was about them? Are they flimsy? Do they easily come off?

05 F-350 4x4 Reg Cab PSD 6Spd.
I asked my fleet manager that very same question. He said ford does not come with them in the rear because they tend to get mud and goo up on top of them after so many miles. Many of the ford trucks are actually used as work trucks on dirt roads and some of the more alkaline soils tend to rot out things, especially if it sits up on the inside of the fender forever. I do have complete ones in the front however.
I ended up getting an 06 F-350, 4x4, SRW, CC, PSD 6spd. Since the 6spd is next to impossible to find, I had to order.
Before this, I had a 99 Dodge Ram 2500, 4x4, SRW, S/C, CTD Auto. The Cummins was rock solid, and I really loved it, but constant problems with the brakes and the transmission, especially when towing, cut its life under my ownership short.
I am looking forward to the Ford, as my wife shows horses, it should work out to be a great tow vehicle. For us, it isn't about one thing in the vehicle, be it the engine, or the transmission, it is the entire tow vehicle package. In this case, the integrated brake controller, increased GVWR of the SRW, the whole towing platform sold us on the Ford.

I looked on e-bay but could not find anything that would cover the whole wheel well.

Thanks for the info, I guess for now I will wait and see how hard it is to keep the wheel wells clean.
If you're getting an '06, there will be (or should be) liners in the rear portion of the rear wheel-wells. If you look at an earlier Super-Duty ('99-'03?), you'll see there are parts for both the front and rear portion of those rear fenders. The rears are the most important, you can order the fronts if you want from a Ford parts department to match the factory rear liners. The ones on eBay will fit, but are made from a different material and won't match in appearance (if that's impportant to you).
Thanks for the information and pictures. 1956MarkII: yes, I am getting an '06, and thinking back on it, I do believe I saw the rear fender liners on the '06 trucks that were sitting in the lot. The pictures help a lot.
What is particularly curious to me is that even when Ford included all parts for the fender liner straight from the factory, it still wasn't much to "write home about." The 99 Dodge Ram I just sold had a giant solid plastic piece that literally covered the entire wheel well: top, front, back, and side. I really liked that implementation, but if that turns out to be my biggest complaint about Ford, then I will be one happy man.
If anyone is interested, there are a set of rear wheel well liners currently for sale on EBAY, item #8000450933. They appear to be stronger than OEM, and cheaper. I just purchased a set, should be getting them shortly. It looks like the price will be going higher soon.
I'm definitely gonna purchase whatever liners my new truck doesn't come with. It's rediculous Ford doesn't include stuff like this. Do you realize how old pressure wahing mud out of the inside of the front bumper gets?
I asked my fleet manager that very same question. He said ford does not come with them in the rear because they tend to get mud and goo up on top of them after so many miles. I don't quite get the rationale for this answer. If the "mud and goop" don't end up on the fender liner (since there aren't any) where do you suppose it does end up on ? I think the reason fender liners were "invented" was to keep road residue from contaminating more vital (expensive) chassis components. The last of my worries would be the liner "rotting out".
