Does anyone know if there is a timing gear srive set made for the 400? I see them for the 351W's and I think it would be cool if I could find one for my 400. I am going to have to rebuild it soon and Would like to put one in. Any feedback would be great. Thanks!
ive heard good and bad things about these... my friend broke a tooth on one and another has one in his chevy and its hella loud... u can hear it over the engine... someone inform me if they are worth it
there are a lot of arguments going both ways. i got tired of finding a stretched out chain after very few miles, anybody checked one out after 500 miles? some say the gears transfer harmonics from the cam to the crank and that's bad, maybe it does but how bad it is i don't know. is it worth it? that's up to you!
I have also heard from someone on here, don't remember who, maybe you could find it on a search, but he said he just could not take the noise anymore and went back to a chain.
well ive been looking at them for a while and asked a lot of ?'s and here is what i have heard. most hermonics issues have been resolved. u can get quite ones although it requires thrust bearings due to helical cut gears. and the pete jackson is the only one avalible for our motor well atleast thats all i have seen so far. hope that helps
i found a noisy one on ebay that is like 80 bucks. i have ran them before and will only run those. i guess if you are old or dont like the blower type of whine, you wont like the gear drives, but i swear by them. never had a problem with them but i have had alot of problems with timing chains lol
