I would like to change the gears in my 2003 F250 SD 5.4L gasser.
Currently I have 3:73s and would like to go to 4:10s.
Front axle is a dana 60 and the rear is a Visteon 10.5 (I think).
Has anyone done one and where should I buy my ring and pinion and which brand.
I tow 9000lbs most every day in the summer and plow snow in the winter.
Any info would be great. Already have a SCT tuner and belive me you guys with slushy transmissions should really consider one.
There well worth the money.

For buying gears, www.broncograveyard.com has some good prices and www.ring-pinion.com has a great assortment and are very helpful, though the prices are higher. Don't know if you're installing them yourself or not but if you haven't done it before and don't have all the tools you'll need to find a mechanic who can and see what they charge. Installation will often cost as much as the gear sets.
IMO you're barely going to notice a difference between 3.73 and 4.10 . . . certainly not enough difference to justify $500-$1000 this will cost you. I don't know if you're running larger tires or what but if you're going to regear I would recommend looking at 4.56 or so . . . where you'll really feel a difference in power.
Concur on the slight difference from 3.73 to 4.10. I would say go at least a 4.30 for a noticeable difference. I don't know what tire setup you have, but 4.56 with stock tires may put you way up in the rpm range at highway speeds. Not bad for towing all the time, but that's your choice. Use a few of the rpm calculators to see where the changes will put you at.
Right now I have the stock 265 75 16 tires and would like to go to a 33 12.50
and I thought that going with the 4:10 would cancel out the difference.
But on the other hand (four fingers and a thumb) the 4:30 gears and the 33's might be a good combo to gain a little more grunt and I could probably keep it in overdrive. What do you guys think.
