I think diesel, but my drunkeness says you went with the V10. The diesel has so much more opportunity, please tell me you went with the diesel. It's kind of like you junior prom, you went with the choice that seemed good at the moment, but you knew of some girl that looked better and felt nicer but you didn't want to make that jump. Please tell me you made the jump to the diesel this time. Come on Jose, you won't regret it in the end. Either way congrats on a new X.
well im whipped the diesel i had gotten was the xlt model, wife wanted something more luxurious so i traded it in for a v10 limited because they did not have any limited diesels but it has allthe options now, its mineral grey. 4.30 gears, leather, all the options except for tv entertainment system.
It all comes down to personal taste between a diesel or a gasser. I take heat from others occaisionally because of my choice...but here was my reasoning.
I tow a 22' enclosed car trailer on a fairly regular basis. A V10 or diesel were the only options.
My last truck was a '94 Bronco that I put 90,000 miles on....but it took 10 years! And for a while...it was my only vehicle. I now have a Mustang Cobra to drive 75% of the time.
Anyhow...first of all, I did drive a diesel, both 6 and 7.3. For driving around town, the throttle response was nothing like the gasser, and frankly...stock for stock...had very little "go" until the turbo spooled up. But hey...that's how a diesel is. I also did not want to listen to a diesel.
Lots of my driving is local, so a diesel is not a good choice as I understand it is not good for them to be started-stopped-started-stopped, short drives, etc. At the time of my purchase diesel was also .30 more a gallon. Added to that was the extra upfront cost. I did some math and realized that it would take 100,000 miles to even out the expense versus the fuel economy. (100,00 miles will take me 10 years or more!)
I have towed quite a bit with my V10 and I am very pleased. I know a diesel is better for towing...but this is suiting me fine. I'd agree that my MPG is not great, but nor did I expect it to be. I get under 9 around town, with a best thus far of 13 on the highway.
In the end, either way, you really can't go wrong with an Excursion...good luck Jose!
yeah im so happy with my v10. i think it was better suited for me since i don't tow very often. hell the 5.4 probobly suite me best but the v10 has a nicer throttle responce.
I just purchased a new Pueblo Gold Limited 6.0 with Trailer Mirrors, limited slip Diff and DVD system last week. I think it is Great! I am getting around 16 mpg in the city and 21-24 on the hwy. Of coarse I have to feather the throttle and travel about 65mph to achieve this on level ground. It 's hard not to goose this thing since it has so much POWER! It will press you back in the seat. Amazing 6500lb beast!
Jose you got an Excursion. That's what counts. Welcome to it. What else can fit full drywall sheets, lumber and still close the doors when it rains. Great ride! We love our 03 7.3 PSD, turned by Superchip.
