oil galley plug
hi guys last year i had to replace a oil galley plug on the right front. now the left rear is starting to leak. heres my question. when i got the new one from the dealer they said i had to buy the whole plug for $30. after changing it out it looks like only a o-ring is really needed. does anyone know if this a common o-ring or is it a special one? or possiblly the size or a part number of the o-ring. im just trying to find out it this is just the dealer selling me a $30 part when i only need 50 cent o-ring. any help is appreciated..

I was in the same boat about eight months ago. Yes, you do have to buy the new plug with the O-ring. Ford redesigned and replaced the old two-part o-ring with one single o-ring. The only way to get the redesigned O-ring is to buy the oil plug. They come as one assemply, not separately. I spent $40.00 for mine, looks like your getting a good deal!
