?????s on tranny

guys,i need some experience here.I'm fairly sure it's my tranny that went bad.There are alot of metal shavings in the bottom of the pan.Before i took the pan off, if i put it in drive 1 or 2,let off the brake and touched the accelerator i would hear a scraping/spinning noise.Does that sound like it's the tranny? I want to make sure before i drop $3500 on a tranny.I shifted through the transfer case gears too with no results.Anyone think it could be the tranfer case?Thanks

doubt the transfer is bad, but you should check the fluid too to see if it is clean or metallic anyways

It could be the TC but that will put pieces in the trany so either way you will be tearing into the trany, I know I did it two weeks ago.
