DSI definitely keep us posted.... you used the Hypermax gaskets? You happen to remember the exact size of freeze plug for the EGR cooler inlet, so I can have one on hand for the job?

Thanks,
Tim

route66,
Remember the name Roger Wells, he is the service writer I deal with there, another long time hot rodder/automotive guy, if you ever need anything done, he knows which tech to send it to.

i also had injector's done at the same time to save labor later towed a whale of an enclosed trailer this weekend, and had not one issue on grades i knew where the truck would begin to puke at.

when i get my SCT file's this week i will get them loaded and report back. the file will remove the EGR from the system, and the freeze plug was installed at the cooler inlet, so i will not have a chance to flash any coolant in the cooler.

BTW i am out of warrenty...
I don't mean this to come across with a negative tone, but obviously you didn't do the work yourself. I wouldn't even attempt headwork (at least on the passenger side) on my truck personally without yanking the cab. There's just no good reason not too- its not hard to do, it simplifies the task at hand and it provides tons of excess room to get the job done easily and correctly.

Thanks,

Tim, i bought the variety pack of plug's, but i swear it was the 1.25, i didn't do the work, i paid to make sure it was right

and no, i did not use hypermax's gasket's, i paid about half what there gasket set cost's for the gasket's ring's and machine work locally.

I think I may be a member of the coolant club. I took a good look under the hood yesterday and I am unsure if the amount of mud is causing the filth, but it looks like my heads may have floated. The coolant bottle doesn't look bad.

I also checked out the boost tubes and noticed the oil many have written about.

Does Ford replace head gaskets often?
How about the clamps on the tubes?

My truck had new head gaskets installed. The service advisor said that they were an updated part. Has anyone had any problems running a tuner with the updated gaskets?

The reason the Hypermax c-rings are so expensive is because they are hypereuretic- they will allow for a large degree of head lift and still maintain a proper combustion seal. They are also reusable. A cheaper, standard block or head o-ring will seal just as strongly, but as soon as the head starts to lift it will be just as nasty as the stock gaskets.

I have never seen a set of c-rings sell for less than about 900 bucks.
