now i saw how many rednecks are out there, which means yall got to be on the ol' cb. just checkin to see everyones handles and the signifigance. mines FireRanger. first truck i ever had was a ranger and it caught on fire. doing a truck pull with it. hooked it up to a dodge, i pullled the dodge backwards then it blew up. so come on back with your handles.
This should be fun - since '81 I've gone by "Skypilot" and no, I'm not an aircraft pilot. Got the handle from Zane Grey era westerns - an old west nickname for preachers. I keep a Midland 41 ch in the '86 4X4 but only use it when I'm on mountian roads to keep from being run over by logging trucks. Those blind switch-backs keep life exciting! - tim

I had a 23 channel midland in it, and could sneak up on just about anybody with it. Mainly because it had one of those am/fm/cb antennas mounted on the front fender, so no one knew it was in there.
(2) The Ghost - I work security, and the warehouses I worked in, were occupied most of the night by the night shift workers for that company. I could walk my rounds through the buildings and through the warehouses and no one ever knew I was there until I rounded a corner and scared the daylights out of one of them one night.
Now in my truck I have a Cobra 18WXST 40 channel that works really well with the matched & tuned black firesticks mounted on the ol' headache rack.

My CB days have passed. We used them mostly while running deer, shooting deer, hiding deer, etc. etc.
I was "Simple man." I really don't remember why. But- my wife (then my girlfriend) was "Dixie Chick" long before the Dixie Chicks.
Mtflat, I like the "Skypilot." I am a full-time pastor of a small country church, too. I've been called lots of thing, but never a sky pilot

One nice thing about getting older is being able to use 'senior moment' as an excuse.....my CB has only 40 ch's and the word for big hills is spelled 'mountain'.....

Nate - it's good to know another pastor is out here. What part of the country are you located in? I'm in nw Montana now, but was born and raised in Ohio on the PA line. If you'd prefer, you can drop me a note at mtflat(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
My CB handle is also Sky Pilot, for the same reasons. I first got the title in Viet Naam, where Aussies fought alongside you Americans. I ministered to both nations troops. (I am an Aussie)
I have a lot of CB's two of which have 120 channels, made by Galaxy, bought new in a Flying J 3 years ago, they have 120 channels, AM,FM,USB,LSB and a few effects like Echo, Beep on Beep off, and power levels.
LAST EDITED ON 18-Apr-01 AT 08:30 PM (EST)[p]My CB days kinda went 10-7 a long time ago. But back when I roamed the channels a bit (that is how the wife and I met) I went by the handle "Rock Bottom". I wonder how many out there remember the Felix the Cat cartoons? Remember the Professor's side kick? Yep, that's where I got the name!
Hey, it's good to know there are a few "Men of the Cloth" on this channel to keep us in line!!
amen. ill tell you what there aint nothin like a good church mass to get the old blood flowin on sundays. and i do remember the cartoon. nice, i like it. amen
well i dont consider myself a redneck. but i do run a cb in my truck as well as my semi truck.i use the handle "CHANCE".and yes they do have radios with alot more than 40 channles.but it has a straight 40 (not 41)then you can split em from there.
I Haven't even turned my CB on in probably 2 years. Other then when I put it in the 86 just to try it out. It seems like most of the people around Abilene that where running CBs where drunk loudmouths who only wanted to start fights and talk crap. lol I do have a Galaxy 88 installed in it with a solorcon mirror mount antenna. Before that I had a cobra model 29 with all the toys in it. I quit running it when it got to the point that everyone was running a connex board in thier radio and seemed to like having the echo turned up so high that you couldn't understand them. lol. Hopefully it isn't like that everywhere. It has come in handy a couple of times though. I use to go by Shattered, a Friend of mine gave me the handle when I had a spell of bad luck and was accidently breaking a window a day for about a week.
Nice, i cannot find any cobras where im at. cannot find them at all i saw them in a mag. but i lost that too. if ya can help me it would be great. just hooked up a P.A. system the other day. i can already smell the tickets coming.
Try summit racing, they are the ones I got mine from. Not to bad either $79, I had seen them upwards of $100. But summit was far cheaper, both on the radio and on shipping.
You can see mine on my webpage. Just look for the More 88 F-150 pictures link.

Since 1976, when I was in school and had a home base station, I have used "Shadow" as my CB handle, from the radio program. Was real active in the CB clubs back then, but for many, many years I haven't really been on much..
