I've sold my Explorer but I need to smog it before the title can be transfered, anyway....
I smogged it back in March with a new IAC, no problems, now I've taken it twice this week and it keeps aborting the test. When they try to run it at 15mph/25mph the rpms bounce up and down from like 3000rpms to 2500rpms, continuously. But I found out tonight after installing new plugs, wire, and pcv that if I turn the truck off for a few seconds then start it up and run it at 3000rpms, no problems, for like 20 seconds then it does then start the samething again.
Any suggestions??? I am now starting to think that it might be a O2 Sensor, but not too sure....would really appreciate the the help!!!
I haven't had any codes pulled because the Check Engine light hasn't come on yet...could computer be generating code without presenting a Check Engine indication??? Otherwise I'll go to Autozone or Kragens tonight and have them scan it.
Well I did the check engine flash codes by grounding out the Self-test In terminal...picked up code 542, (Fuel pump circuit failure)... earlier today I disconnected the battery to try and reset the computer due to replacement IAC. So this code was detected with only 30 minuets of engine run time and about 10 miles distance on it. Suggestion on how to test fuel pump or circuitry???
Thanks, XLT, not sure where Placentia is but I live in Valencia...
