Hey if anyone was ever interested where the towns are that
people live in go to Google Earth and up load the web site
type in a location and it sends you to that location, Of course
the image you'll get is a couple years old it's interesting to see where all you guys/gals come from around the country.
you can actually type in your own address and try to guess which cars were in the driveway the day they took the photo.
another fun thing is scroll around to places that you go, but they have the back areas blocked off to the public. you can see what they are hiding back there. like go to the race track and see what the pits look like, or to the local gravel pit. my local gravel pit has like 5 huge lakes (now, they used to be big huge holes!) its fun to explore on google satelite maps.
wanna get creepy?? go to www.zabasearch.com and enter someones name, and state, get their address, then look that up on google satelite, and see their house! it puts a red flag right on it! see whats in their backyard!
Yah when i did it I saw my neices car and our 27' travel trailer there it's gone now at my father inlaws.
It's kinda cool,i can see about where you guys are.
Also just imagine the detail you could see if you where to actually
sign up for the service, than you could see things as there happening wwwooooo freaky, helllllooooo i see you. Oh my perverted mind might get me to look in L.A. at the swimpools.
If you think google maps are cool, and can afford the time for a 180 MB download you should check out NASA's WorldWind program. Satellite maps of the entire globe, with different selectable map sets, from NLT Landsat 7 images, to USGS Topo maps. The USGS Urban Area Ortho gets pretty darn good resolution, but is only around major urban areas.
It starts out as a view of the globe from space and lets you pan and zoom from there.
I wanted to see places I've visited in other countries but it is very blurry. My house, is visible, but I'm not making out too much detail, old PC probably.
I think they are blocking other countries for security reasons.
This is a neat way to show someone how to get from point A to B. A real map, showing real landmarks. Very Very Cool!!!
