Windshield Washer Troubles

Hi All!
I seem to be having troubles with my windshield washer unit somewhere - it is working intermitantly - biggest problem being every time I go to try to check it, it is working.
So I am not sure whether I should check the switch or the pump.

Any suggestions as to what the culprit might be?
Is this a common problem?

Sometimes it sprays and some times it doesn't. It is working when it wants to. Tried to check it this morning and it was working. Tried to use it last night and it wasn't. Intermittantly working.

maybe theres a bad connection somewhere? or bad wire from the power source to the pump
