I used it at first, just got tired of all those qt.bottles, and Wally-world stopped selling it for a while. They just started selling it again, same qt.bottles. I do my own changes, so I have to keep the old oil in the containers until I can dispose of it at the recycle center. The gallon jugs are just too handy. Otherwise, I had no problems with the oil. It was the first CI-4 oil I found anywhere on the shelf, and I had one of the first 6.0's out there. Nobody had anything except the dealer when I bought my 03, except for oil that is.

As Guydiver stated, nothing. If I had the money, I would let Ford change the oil in it every time. I however cannot justify paying Ford $89 to change my oil, using Motorcraft oil, when I can change it myself using Synthetic for $71. Synthetic got me (in my 03, have not switched in my 05 yet) 1-1.5 mpg better after the switch, plus I changed it every 10,000 not 5,000. Originally Posted by 51truck

Motorcraft = too expensive Got mine from International for $5.80 per gal in bulk.
Got Diesel?
I have used Motorcraft 15W-40 since day one and now have +53,000 miles on my Excursion.
Motorcraft was one of the first to start lableing their product with the new CI4+ rating which was designed as an improvement to to the 2 year old CI4 rating.
Which oil one uses is a personal choice. USe sythn. if you think it provides the warm and cold weather performance your looking for. Use dino oil if you are happy with it and it's lower cost. I just recommend that people look for and use either oil that has the newest CI4+ rating (more appear every day).
I live in Kansas City and find Motorcraft 15W-40 fine for me, but may switch to synth. just for the cold weather starting and easy warming up in the winter. I am a firm believer in changing oil according to your manual and have personally chosen to change it every 5,000 miles regardless of driving style.
According to Blackstone Oil analysis, this motor shears down a 40 weight oil to that of a 30 weight (it does stop), so I am a believer that frequent changes with any quality oil and filter is better than extended oil changes due to synth. oil being used.
I have started to do my own oil changes and here is the results:
$28.38 - 15 qts of Motorcraft 15W-40 oil ($1.89/qt)
$19.88 - Motorcraft oil filter purchased from Advanced Auto Parts
------------
$48.26 - Total Cost
$30.00 - Fumoto drain valve (dieselsite.com)
(One time expense to make it easier)
Good luck on what ever you decide.
