When I worked @ a Ford dealer back in 1998, the 15W40 for the diesels was shell rotella. I dont know about the other stuff, or even if the 15w40 is Shell anymore. My $0.02.
It is interesting that in Canada, Motorcraft 5-20 is a different product than in the US.
The Canadian MC 5-20 is called a premium and the US product is a semi-synthetic.
I have both and the US stuff is lighter in color and touch and I beleive it to be a better product so that is what is in my V10 now.
I never really cared, so I haven't bothered to check. But, I'm sure this has been answered in the "oil & lubrication" forum. Try there if you don't get an answer here.
I did read the "where does Wal-Mart oil come from" threads... kind of interesting.
It really makes no difference. The oil is made to MC's criteria so it would not be the same as if you bought another brand made by the same manufacturer.
I would guess the Canadian oil is different due to lack of, or differances in emmisions regulations there compared to what the US has. Dont really know, just guessing! Could be trade regulations in Canada, could be the aroura borealis. Or the democrats, yeah! The democrats! Lets blame them! Its a government conspiracy!!!
