Hey guys, my 2005 6.0 powerstroke just randomly and instantly died while i was driving 45 mph. Would crank but not start. I let it cool off and tried it again, but still no start. Towed it to the local mechanic and he said there is no oil getting to the HPOP but is unsure what is wrong with it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help.
How does he know that there is no oil getting to the HPOP? I'm betting he's saying that it's not building high pressure oil. If indeed there is no oil going to the HPOP (witch it is feed by reservior under the oil cooler) then you have a problem with the low pressure oil system. The LPO pump feeds the reservior for the HPOP.
I'm not sure how he knew there was no oil getting to the hpop, and I tried to call him and find out and can't get an answer or a call back. But all he said was the it was getting absolutely no oil pressure and that he was just going to have to tear into it from the oil pan up. . But I will find out exactly what he did as soon as I can. If it was the STC fitting which I had hoped it was, I was going to try and do the job myself. Now I have no clue what to do and am afraid neither does my mechanic. . .
Not getting oil pressure doesn't mean not getting oil. And he is talking about the HPO system correct? If so, and he says he needs to remove oil pan to investigate, then you need to get that truck back ASAP, and never take it back there again. Sounds like this guy doesn't know squat about a 6.0
