:-) Hey folks,Have been looking around here for a few months and this is the BEST place I've ever seen for people like me who own a Ford Truck and have any kind of problem. This is my 1st post so bear with me.I have a 1978 F-100 with brand new 351/400M engine and new C-6 tranny.Problem is with tranny. There are certain places particuraly flat pavement when you put in drive or reverse it Slips! After moving shift lever from D to R and driving 1 complete shifting range,it stops slipping. If I'm parked on slight incline it goes great from get go.Fluid level is great etc.The eng/tranny were installed by local mech.with good rep for engine/tranny swaps.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me nuts! Also sometimes even when fluid is hot acts like it doesn't want to pull start in drive. Thanks,Joel
Take it back to the guy with the great reputation and tell him to fix it, if its brand new it isn't your problem, let the warranty do the talking. This goes especially if he put it in the truck, if you installed it then check all your mounts and linkages first and then take it in, could maybe be there isn't enough fluid in the torque converter...
Is the torque converter filled seperatly?? If so how? Tranny was shipped with converter already attached...surely the Manufacturer filled it?I'm trying to arm myself with any info possible Before I take it back to the Mechanic. Thanks Wilson!! Any more info I would appreciate. Joel:-)
The T/C is filled by the tranny. It almost sounds like a loose filter. Take it back to the mechanic. Have the guy check it out, and see what he says. If you don't like the sounds of it, post it here, and we'll help ya out.
