I need some help with my 99 7.3. Occasionaly it will not want to start. I don't suspect the camshaft sensor since the RPM guage gives a reading while its cranking. I don't know what to look for next. There is no check engine light. Most days it starts and runs great, just every now and then it doesn't want to start.
The wires to the ipr valve can get oil soked and the insolasion soften up and the copper cores of the two wires can make contact, if they do it won't start. If it's below 60 dre. you still need glow plugs to work if you have to crank alot and when it does fire you get a lot of smoke may have a problem there. Oil level in motor can make it start hard also. Battery voltage bad battery or cables weak starter or dirty conections, any thing that makes it turn over to slow can also make it hard starting.
