Is it possible? I would love to get the power benefits of headers, but i dont see how you can with the one peice intake and exhaust manifold. Why does this engine has the one peice manifold? is it for emissions? And about making the headers my self, can i buy a flange to make the headers off of? I have never seen one but maybe their out there. Any feedback would be appriciated
If you have to make your own, you could just call up any popular header maker..see if they would sell you the flange..be persistant..one of them will eventually sell you what your after, I believe dynomax has sold a couple of the inline 300 flanges to a few people.

intake and exahust arent one piece. they just bolt together(right?) alot of I6's are in that configuration. It heats up the intake charge making less power but helping emissions. Just remember you only benefit from more exhaust flow if you can pull more air through the intake. If you are running stock intake your gains will be minimal.
My 300-6 has given me no problems in 23 years. I bought the truck the first year I was out of high school. Just wondering if anyone else has a 300 that they don't want to be without?
i believe he means to seperate the intake/exhaust manis. They are seperate but there may be some interference when using aftermarket parts or custom built pieces.
The only issue I know of with the intake and exhaust manifold/ headers using common bolts/ mounting surface, would be different flange thickness of each individual flange but this is something easily fixed.
