my exhaust manifolds are cracked and leaky, so im going to replace them with oe manifolds. i have a 92, so i have the two peice headers. do i have to remove the intake manifold to replace the exhaust manifold gasket? all the new gaskets seem to be one big peice. from what i hear, i should buy a mr gasket #260. i was going to go for a set of clifford headers, but they are over priced and i have a fairly stock motor.
Hey Octane,
Yeah, almost all the intake/exhaust gaskets for the 300 are one piece, so you will have to remove everything to replace the gasket. There are only a small handful of high performance aftermarket manifold gaskets that are separate, ((but they're most likely not currently on your engine.))
So far, the Mr. Gasket #260 is the way to go. I like it on mine, and it's done the best job of the three brands I've tried.
Where are you located? I am selling some hooker headers locally that I don't need.

okay thanks for the info. as for the hooker headers, are they the longtube ones? i dont want to block in my starter. i am located on long island, ny, so a local purchase wouldnt even be possible.
Yeah, they're the long tube type. And I'm just about the other side of the US than you. Idaho. Probably cost more to ship them to you than they're worth, due to their size!

AB....what problem(s) did you encounter with the 'other' brands gaskets? Why is Mr.Gasket a better choice? Inquiring minds....
I tried the stock FelPro gasket and a Clifford Performance gasket.
The FelPro was "okay" I guess, but it never seemed to fully seal it up. Always seemed like it was leaking a little bit.
The Clifford split under the recommended torque setting, causing one of the tabs to snap off and a $60 repair job. Contacted Clifford and they just told me, "A shop should be able to fix your intake. Good luck."
The Mr. Gasket was the first one I put on that actually made me feel like my intake was all nice and sealed up.
