Question I have is.. My truck is a 76 and has disk brakes on front end.. Not 4x4 just a 76 custom.. Were disk brakes offered as an option for that year? I have only had truck a week and have not had much time to look at it.. I'm thinking I need to get vin number off truck and match it with title and see what other alterations have been made. But I didn't think that 76 2x's had the disk brake option.
My '76 F-250 Supercab has disks. You got me curious. I had to go out in the 3° cold to check.

I have F100 Went out and bought a manual and it said.. some bronco's and light duty 4x4's had disk brake options in front.. But doesn't mention anything about the 2x's. Hmm.
i think ford offered front disc brakes on the 2 wheel drives in the late 60s early 70s(dont quote me on it). it wasnt untill the 76 model that disc brakes were used on a 4x4. up untill the end of 75 had drum brakes. and they suck. i have to do an axle swap to get disc for my front. ill get it it sometime in the near future.

All,
I own a 76 F100 2WD Custom. It has power Disc from the factory. NO BIG WHOOP. If you have any question about what your truck came with, simply call an auto parts store and ask if the part is available for your model year truck. Works every time!

The service manual is a must, go buy one, there about $35.
Harrison has factory disk brakes on him (1974). From what I've heard this was the 1st year for the disks to be standard on the front.
No power brake module, though...
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-Dec-02 AT 09:57 PM (EST)]Disk brakes were available on 2wd Ford trucks beginning with the 1973 model year. 4wd and Broncos began using front disks in 1976. Some earlier 2wd trucks (from about '71) had front disks as an (expensive) option as I recall.
