Work for my uncle on the camp ground, family camp ground, and daily i haft to deal with vandalizing, methheads, anykind druggys, roudy people, stupid music (rap) at full blast, i haft to bring out the 12 guage to get things in order atleast three times a day
i lost my go kart because of the job, ahole set it ablaze!!, if ya think of it like this, my county (cherokee, ok) is the second highest number of meth labs bust in the state!
but ive been working the job for about 2 years. i get a four wheeler and a ranger to use so im happy, oh ya no pay, but im goin to branson the week before school starts...
Hey A_G, where do you work at up there? I hunt in and around Cherokee, Co., we usually camp at greenleaf and it's real quiet there. We have camped on Tenkiller once or twice, just not as quiet there as it is at greeleaf.
I'm a truss and panalized wall designer by trade... it's a cool job, atleast I get to see my work coming together here at the plant and on the jobsites. Anything that takes me from my family for more than 40 hours a week sucks, but it's a necessary evil I guess...
Maybe one of these days I'll make it big... like a double diamond amway distributor...
Sorry, that was tacky... Lord I appoligize for making fun of the amway double diamonds and be with the starvin pigmees, downt there in new guinnea, amen!
I hate my job sometimes....more often then not. Unions...where do I begin? My boss is an idiot slacker that doesnt give a ( place word here ) about anybody but himself. He gets away with murder. It's not just me either, everybody hates this guy...at least hes leaving in the next week.
i hated my job. so i quit. walked in on a tuesday after memorial day, told my foreman friday was my last day. i left about 2 that day, packed my toolboxes and welding supplies and left. didn't even tell him. good riddance. i start the Fire Academy aug 22nd and couldn't be happier.
I love my job. Wish I would have quit chasing the money on the road years ago. Oh well, everyone has to pay their dues. Mine are paying big dividends back to me now. More time with my wife, more weekends off, more time to post on the FTE, coupled with 2 great boss's that realize my potential, and are happy to have me working for them. Oh, almost forgot to mention, the pay is better, along with the benifits.
Wow, either I got unknowingly moderated, or verizon ate my post.
I don't hate my job, its just that sometimes people can be very stupid.
I am a warehouse manager for the largest supplier of hardware and accesories in the concrete construction industry. I deal with project managers, site foremen and lots and lots of CSR's at distributors.
People seem to lose all track of the space-time continum when they are asking me for things. I can't move 5 truck loads of custom made items up in the schedule three weeks to cover your bad planning. Our other customers, who are following the schedules we laid out together, sometimes months or even a year ago expect their material when it was promised.

I understand your pain. I sure you have heard this saying b-4 but I framed it and placed it on my desk, words to live by.
"Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part"
I'm a stay at home dad. Job is not bad but the pay is weak. I usually range between, "this is the greatest job ever", and "I better go get an outside job before I freak out". It has been fun watching all of the drones buzz about and steping back from the rat race. BTW I was a heavy equipment mechanic for 10 yrs. before this. I sure don't miss the long weeks on the road traveling from job to job.
I spent 16 years as a field service engineer on process control computer systems - loved it. Then 16 years in corporate sales - not as much fun as the other but lucrative. Now I am retired, I got up at 10:00 today and my biggest decision will be whether to shave or not (not won). I try to read a book a week, check in with FTE daily, debate a little on another forum, spoil my grandkids and mess with my truck. Life is good.
Dono
i can't wait to hit Dono's lifestyle. add in spend time witha pretty gal, and i'm set....sadly, i've got more thana few years....21 years old has its good and bads....
I'm also a sysadmin, and I did say "that's enough" about two years ago.
I took a few months off and eventually took a job in a brake shop, turning wrenches for a living.
I learned many things from this experience.
- working on cars for a living is hard on your body. Air tools and kneeling to set up the lift on 20 cars a day gets tough after a while.
- The type of people who work in a garage are completely different than the kind of people who work in an office.
- They hired me with the understanding that I was an entry level mechanic. I asked reasonable questions and got smartass answers. I got yelled at when things didn't go right. I got yelled at when things didn't go right that weren't even my fault. I was expected to know things that someone with my experience (none) wouldn't. I was made to feel like an idiot when I didn't. The assisstant manager was the most obnoxious know-it-all that I've ever met. He knew everything about everything, and there was no arguing with him.
I think I lasted there three months. I quit and went back to a sys admin job with a whole new perspective on life.
Yeah, like I said I'm not all that great with mechanics.. although I do enjoy working on my truck, I need to get alot of info from FTE or friends - people who know what they're doing. I do well with exact instructions, but I more or less stink at diagnosing anything. It's still fun none the less.
I know the type differences in type of people you are talking about, yes they are much different than people in the office. When I was younger I would hang out in a few garages where some friends worked.. it was a riot
Yeah, who knows what I would do.. I'm unsure of that.
Wow, just the thread I've needed tehse past few weeks. Ahem......
I HATE MY JOB. I start at 8am, unload hay wagons till about noon or 1 NON STOP, no matter how hot it is out. Then I do chores from 2 till 4 then its back to unloadin hay from 4 till whenever. I HATE HAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate is with a passion, I'm hot, tired, physically drained, and ITCHY ITCHY ITCHY!!!! I am misserable doing hay. Chores are NBD, actually can be fun. Whenever I have to deal with hay I am a total jerk. I justy cant be doing this work during college, especially not during the winter. Need solid hours with OVERTIME(which I do not have, Im done at 4pm but may need to stay longer), benefits and vacation time. I feel bad that I'm going to leave if/when I get a better job(soon hopefully); my first job and the boss is a real good friend and an awesome guy, just gonna feel real bad leavin him hanging. I just cant take the physical strain/exhaustion any more, need an easier job. Theres my rant today, better get to bed so I can wrench on the truck tomorrow, no hay hopefully it rained today alot and SOAKED the raked hay. HEEEEEEHAAAAAA
