Best Valve Covers

I have the on going leaking steel valve cover. Should I just buy another set of steel or get a cast set? What valve cover do you think is best.

I've done the valve cover tour- My vote goes to the Ford Motorsports Cast Aluminum Cobra valve covers.

I have 2 sets one is the set that Greg is talking about.

The others are old cast alum M/T from FORD.

I'm with Greg on this. Get the Ford Motorsports Cast Aluminum Cobra valve covers. They'll stop your leaks plus they look great.

I put the Cobra lemans on mine, used a rubber gasket with red sealer. Nothing even close to a leak in the past year.

And they DO look good too.

I have two sets of Mercury station wagon stamped steel valve covers which I love because they are tall and take the aftermarket shafts and stand supports great and they look fantastic chromed with the lightening bolt on the side. Using the rubber/neoprene gaskets solved my leaks. The secret to used stamped steel valve covers is to find some that have never been zealously overtightened. I use the ultra-grey sealer.

Six years ago I located a set of aluminum Cal Custom covers for $15 that have ribs like a 283 vett motor, clean without numbers or name. On the wall a set of M/T 427 HP covers NIB purchased for $25 at garage sale. Besides the good looks they don't leak.
