First off, great site for lots of information.
Second, fairly new diesel owner (2001 F-250 Crew Cab - no real mod's except for air filter)
Third, do all diesel's have block heaters? If so, where would the plug be (can't seem to find one).
your truck has a block heater, it will be just to the passengers side of the drivers side tow hook behind the grill. you will have to reach in there and feel around
Not all PSD's have the block heater. There was the cold weather delete package (special order) that took 100 bucks off sticker price and it gets rid of the block heater the EVBP valve and intake heater. I bought my truck used and it doesn't have any of the above and the guy I bought it from had the window sticker from when he special ordered it. My truck is also a dually but has the 3:73 rearends in it. I also believe that you can find out what the vehicle was from the factory at ford.com.
There are three places it could be.
One as above, two, I forgot and third toward the middle of the bumper from the driver's side tow hook. You will see a black plastic wire tube looped around. It is held by a little zip tie you can easily break by hand.
The heater eats some serious electricity from the outlet, use a timer and set it for about 2-3 hours before you want to start it. (my experience)
Just as a side note:
The tow hooks on the front are for when you have to back away from the hole the Dodge is stuck in while pulling him out. It's not to tow the Ford.
Thanks guys. Found it right off. It was toward the center of the truck from the driver's side tow hook. Much appreciated. Thanks for the timer information also.
