Electric cooling fans

Has anyone tried using electric cooling fans on their PSD? I was looking at some flex a lite fans. Their 290 model pulls 5500 cfm. I think that would more than do the job. I'm sick of hearing the fan roar while I'm going down the highway here in TX. After about 25-30 mph, the fan really does no good. Just wondering what yall thought about that.

your fan clutch is be bad, if it's staying engaged all the time. ( or going bad ) i would look at replacing it before putting the electric fans on your trk. have a good one.

My fan clutch is not be bad....LOL. I couldn't resist that shot. No, the fan clutch works fine, it will let go after a while. But it's so hot here in TX, if I'm pulling or cruzin' kinda slow it won't. It did this last summer too. When winter finally came around I never heard from it. But the clutch is doing it's job okay. I would just like to see how it acts with electric fans, and was wondering if anyone had done it. Your respose would have been what I said too.

I would be interested in this also. They say that gassers can gain HP by going electric. I doubt this would hold true on a PSD, but I sure would like to get rid of the roar of the clutch.

Yes, you could gain hp by going electric. Unfortunately, no one is making an electric fan kit that will pull enough cfm to meet the PSD's needs. The stock fan pulls 5900cfm through the radiator, condenser, trans cooler, and IC. The aftermarket electric fans are rated in free air, so they won't pull enough cfm once installed in the vehicle. I talked to several manufacturers and a couple of PSD gurus, and they all said the same thing. I wish someone would make one, because I'd like to do the same... Guess maybe one of these days.
