Remove plastic surround with cigarette lighter
I want to remove the plastic trim piece the cigarette lighter is mounted on. My FX4 does not have the center console. I plan on mounting the switch for my driving lights on this panel. I thought I remembered a post on this board but could not find how to remove it. I thought the cupholder must come out but I could not see how it came out either. Thanks for any help!

There are some posts on how to do this in the audio forums. The short of it is, pop open the ashtray and lift outwards the plastic trim piece starting at the top of the ashtray opening. There are about 8 snaps that hold the thing on. On the FX4, there are 3 locations on the same plastic bezel that can be drilled out to put in anything you want :-)

Yeah, the whole piece comes out along with whatever is attached to the panel that holds the cig lighter. I didn't look too closely the last time I took it out, but that panel might simply clip onto the radio surround.
