Nymo Jr. wants to go for a tour south of the border. So we're going down in the basement; or coming out of the attic, depending on your POV.
We'll be cruising around the north-central area of the U.S. around July 22-27th. Any suggestions worth looking into; that a normal un-informed tourist might not be aware of. We like planes, trains and automobiles. Information on any of these type of museums or displays would be welcomed.
We'll just be going wherever the wind takes us that week; so we're open to all suggestions.
If you get to Chicago, try to visit the Museum of Science and Industry, the Field Museum, the Planatarium, the Aquarium as well as a multitude of downtown landmarks like the Sears Tower, John Hancock Building, etc. I grew up there and we went to a lot of those places on school field trips. It's also a great town to find any kind of ethnic food as well.
We're thinking Montana, Dakota's, Idaho or whatever we find interesting.
dakota's esp. s/d try the bad lands national park, around rapid city. many great sites. includeing mount rushmore. gold mine tours, 1840's narrow gauge train ride.idaho, the snake river's upper end. man it's great out there come across the boarder find a AAA office and purchase some trip books on the attractions. your son will love the area .

If you make it all the way to Minnesota, there is an excellent train museum in the Twin Citiies area. I can't remember then name though. There is another in Antigo,WI(Green Bay)
