Going to Seattle

My wife and I will be going to Seattle for part of our vacation. Of course, we will want to see the Spaceneedle, Starbucks and Pike's Market. I was wondering if anyone has stayed or can recommend any of the hotels by the Spaceneedle. We don't mind paying $150 - $250/night. We just don't want to be in a dive. You can never tell even with the pics supplied on the sites.

This is closer to downtown and Capital Hill, nice older place, a bit high:

This is fine, price is better, remember you are near downtown but still comfy enough and clean etc:

Those are the two places we stay when visiting our daughter at Seattle U. Both are fine to stay at. There are plenty of others nearby, but I have not stayed at them. Parking will be extra and bring your heart meds on that one.

Seattle has a decent light rail, the Link, and it's not too far off. They also have the ****, the South Lake Union Trolley, so look at the map and find south Lake Union, again, not a bad area and there may be a couple contenders there.

You may be on a driving tour, but if you can avoid having to drive to the Space Needle etc, you will be happier for it.

Good luck and have a good time.

I go up there every summer. Can't help with hotel recommendations, we always camp down in Bonney Lake. But some other things worth seeing in the area are:

Seattle Underground Tour UNDERGROUND TOUR
The Ballard Locks My Ballard » Ballard Locks
The Seattle Museum of Flight The Museum of Flight
The LeMay Auto Museum in Tacoma LeMay Museum
San Juan Islands http://www.visitsanjuans.com/

Excellent recommendations, and if you are bored down by the water swing through Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe - lots of oddities and fun stuff.

Also, I have stayed at the Red Lion (downtown) and the Rennaisance. Both were fine, no problems. Parking was somewhat akward at the latter.

Thanks for the input. My stay in Seattle was a blast! It was the precurser to my Alaska cruise (a different thread will be done for this). We stayed at the Westin. Parking was expensive, but we still saved more by using taxis. We visited Pikes Market, aquarium, rode the ferris wheel and the Spaceneedle, of course. As for food, it was fantastic!! We ate at Lola's by Westin. Wow! Octopus for breakfast. We also ate at the Spaceneedle, where I lost no time pointing out Seahawk stadium to my ardent 49er loving family. Going to and from Seattle, we ate at a joint called Country Cafe just north of Vancouver, Wa. Best hashbrowns I have eaten in a long time.
