Whining Noise?

I have a 1999 F150 4x4 with the 4.6L V8. The differential has always had soem whine to it snce we've had it. It currently has 138,100 miles on it. The truck was very well taken care of before and while we've had it. The past3 or 4 thousand miles I've noticed a whining noise that sounds liek its coming from where the engine is hooked up to the transmission, any ideas on what that could be? Truck still runs fine, but he noise is quite annoying, especially doing over 60. Thanks.

Is it a 5 speed or auto? If it is a 5 speed, have you checked the fluid level. And checked the fluid level in the transfer case. When they get low they will whine.

It is an auto. The whining starts usually about 30-35 mph.

Has the diff fluid ever been changed? Try that and see if it helps, don't forget the additive for the limited slip. Check your u-joints too.
