the 3/4T is a real thin market, something Ford found out 1st hand with the Excursion.
But IMO, those are the best ones. Not if you don't need them (i.e. a family car not towing anything) but if you need them they're great. I just wonder where that market would go if they're discontinued. They're not going to be any 3/4 ton expeditions, and I think that if chevy played them up a little they would sell well. They can have snowplows on them, and can tow 12,000 pounds, and can get quadrasteer- that's a very appeling vehicle to anyone who tows stuff.
I don't know- i would just like to see them stick around, and a duramax in them would make them fly off the lots.
One interesting fact about the surburban- most are made in mexico. One of the longest running American vehicles is now made in Mexico. That's sad, IMO.
It's about 50/50, Flint and Mexico. That's been going on for 8 years now- ever since GM cancelled the El Camino.
Back to the 3/4T- I don't see GM cancelling it. As you pointed out, those that need 'em, buy 'em. I am wondering how much over $65K a D-Max 'Burb would sticker for, though.
Yes, we had the 6.5 Turbo. Sold a couple- not really a big deal one way or other. But, honestly, the same could be said about the 3/4T. We sell 15-25 Suburbans a month out of our store, and 1-2 might be 3/4t's. A more typical profile is a loaded 1/2T LT with Moonroof and Rr DVD in Silver Birch, White, or Charcoal Gray. MSRP on that runs in the low $50's. A loaded fat block 3/4T in the same profile runs in the high $50's sticker, which makes me think a D-Max would run in the mid $60's. That pushes the 'Burb past Denali territory and almost lands it into Escalade-land.

Well, that is completely different to our market (how surprising - I keep getting amazed at the differences in our markets, despite the similar climates, lifestyles etc.)
Our most popular ones were Diesel 3/4T's, base model (can't remember the letters that designate the base model). Purchased purely for towing large loads. In fact, where I live in the city there is a second hand 3/4T diesel for sale.
