73 F-250 camper special (not 4X4). Parking brake won't hold when engaged. Went underneath and adjusted the nut at the equalizer - no help. The passenger side cable is way loose at the equalizer compared to the drivers side. Is there a way to take the slack out of the passenger side so it is adjusting at the same tension as the drivers side and any other suggestions to get the parking brake to hold would be appreciated.
Thanks for any help.
Yes, I have checked at the brake because I had just put in a new wheel cylinder on that side. Had to take the parking brake spring off the lever to get the cylinder out, but I did put it back.
Did you replace the flat bar that goes under the wheel cylinder? This is what actually actuates the parking brakes. Also, try pulling on the cable. It may be broken.
