Power steering pump bracket for 302

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Dec-02 AT 09:26 AM (EST)]Hi we are in the process of putting a 302 in a 79 1/2 ton 4WD shortbox pickup. Has anyone ever done this kind of a swap and if so what did you do for the power steering pump bracket. Am I right in assuming that Ford didn't put 302's in 4WD's in 78 or 79. What about Bronco's could you buy a 79 with a 302 in it? Thanks

Post Power steering pump bracket for 302

I,m in the process of swapping a 302 in to my 78 F 150 4x4 swb. pickup. Ford used the 302 in there late 70,s 2wd's and 351/ 400m's in there 4wd's. I got my motor from a 78 2wd . I also have a F 250 so I decided to go with a more economic engine for the F150. Two wheel drive motor parts will work for your 302. I had the pump but was missing the mounting bracket. When I went to find this part I learned (the hard way) that in 78 they went from early style to late style pump and mount in mid year, this is something you will want to watch out for! Good luck on your project!

21 years later I will be surprised if Denise still even owns the truck. His last interaction with FTE was 12-19-2002. 3 posts only. Ou812 has not been on here since 12-30-2002 so I doubt he will see your question either. Always check the date of the last post or reply to a thread before you post up. Just make a new thread and tell us what you are working on and trying to do. Obviously locate a 302 power steering pump bracket, or add p/s to a 302. The PDF attachment might help.

Check this out, and then let this thread die. It seems like it was useless to begin with anyway

The problem is it shows all the brackets which I found from this same company. But none of them show you the pump that they actually go to.

I could buy twenty different brackets, but it doesn't tell me that it's gonna go with the pump that I currently have.

Call CVF on Monday. They’re very helpful. Also, start a new thread.
