Vibration or Flexing ???

I recently traded a 99 Chevy K3500 CC LWB SRW 4x4 for an 05 Ford F-350 CC LWB SRW 4x4.

I noticed in the Chevy when I was driving along about 40-45 mph and when I let off the gas and before I apply the brakes (while coasting to the light or stop sign) I would feel a vibration or flexing (for lack of better words) in the middle of the vehicle. It would go away when either the brakes or gas was applied. It didn't feel like a vibration in within the brakes or in the steering wheel, but more of an up and down flexing in the frame. I thought this might have been from the age of the vehicle or that there was high milage (over 100,000 miles). I noticed it again the day I drove my new truck home under the same driving conditions (roughly - as mentioned above).

Is this a normal characteristic of this particular vehicle? And if so, is there anything out there that can stop it (ie... ladder bars, etc)?

Thanx in advance for your help
Hyway Bo

I'm experiencing perhaps the same thing. I first noticed that my 05, F250, PSD, CC, short bed, would continue to bounce for 3-4 seconds after crossing a RR track. I lowered the airp ressure in my tires to 50 psi all the way around, but still get the same bouncing.

Then the other day as I was opening the tailgate during a rain shower it slipped out of my hand. I thought the truck would never quit vibrating. It appeared the whole frame was flexing in the middle. If I jump in the bed nothing happens. If the frame is flexed nothing happens.

The service guys at local dealership say nothing is wrong, but the owner sees there is problem and is going to contact Ford engineering.

I'll keep you posted when I hear from him.

Sounds like flex in the LWB frame. Subframe connectors would strengthen and solidify. Ironically, I had to do the same with a 2001 Chevy Z-28 Camaro I used to own. The thing had SO much power, that it was losing performance due to flex in the frame. I had subframe connectors installed and it really firmed it up. The flexing causes negative inertia, and that adversely affects performance.

I have a 2006 F350 CC Long Bed and I have the same problem. I have done all kinds of different setups to stop this annoying up and down bounce, but everything I have tried does not help. The only thing that stops this bounce is if I have 4 or 5 people riding in the cab. Then it rides very smooth... To me it feels like the middle of the truck in the frame is bouncing up and down all the time when driving..

Does anyone else have this problem and if so, have you found a way to fix it? I'm thinking about building up the frame at the rear of the cab to help strengthen it.
