Anyone who has done the switch to Evans coolant, after it has been in the motor for a week or so, does it change color? When I put it in it was clear, now it looks kinda brownish. Is this normal?
That is probably from all the sand and grit in the cooling system. The diesel's have alot of casting sand and material in the block, its one of the reasons I added a coolant filter.
I wouldn't go more than a couple of weeks on the first filter. Then change the second one after a couple of months. After that just make it annual maintenance.
The Evans will never clear up. It will be dark brown pretty soon and stay that way.
Thanks Cookie....that is exactly what I have planned on doing. I have been checking the coolant filter, and after 1 week, it is still staying hot, so I know coolant is still flowing thru it. I am prolly going to change it next week anyway.
As far as the color, knowing that it turns brown and stays brown satisfies my original question. When I opened the hood and saw it had turned brown, I kinda wondered if I had screwed something up.....now I know that at least I didn't screw that up.....
