I know this is an old thread, but I am pulling it up to ask a question that was not answered in the post. I have 1971 F250 with a 300 4.9L motor. My motor has the correct passenger side timing plate that starts at 6* ATDC and runs to 14* BTDC. I am looking for two new or used plates. Anyone got two that they will sell or does anyone know where I can buy some on the web?

Hi Old28,
Why do you need two?
I have one sitting somewhere in my garage since I pulled it off my engine. I'll probably never use it.
I pulled my 300 to do the rear main and was looking at the timing marks on my engine. I have the marks in the cover and also the saw tooth timing indicator. My damper has 2 small "v" cuts in it that line up on both marks. Did it come this way? From reading this post I didn't see anyone else explain it like what I am seeing
My original 300 had both the timing cover marks, and the little tooth timing indicator on the passenger side. The pulley had two marks, where each one lined up with one of the indicators. It was really nice.
Personally, I prefer the timing cover marks, since I can reach the distributor and adjust the timing while seeing and holding the timing light on the marks. With the passenger side marks, you have to tweak, walk over and check, walk back and tweak, walk back and check, etc...
