I use Internet Explorer web browser. If someone send's me email and I put that person's address on my "Blocked Senders List", will they know that they have been blocked? In other words, does my computer send that person a message saying "you have been blocked" or something? I know it doesn't pay to block spammers they just change their address but I was wondering if a normal joe with only one address would know he is being blocked.
I've been wondering about this. Any ideas guys? Thanks.
Not sure if it always happens, but I was once blocked by a person on ebay...my first bad experience purchase, when writing to complain about the condition of the item I bought. Seems if I remember half correctly, I got a notice in return that my email to her had been blocked. Maybe she sent a reply and told me she was going to block further conversations. Needles to say, she went on my blocked BUYERS list. One way to find out, is to email a close friend, telling him what you are going to do and have him send an email right away and see if he gets a notice. Then you can unblock him... should you desire.
Actually, now that I think about it, it would be convenient to have the option to do both. In other words, 'notified' and 'un-notified' email blocking.
Sometimes it's nice to send a little 'subtle' message to that pseudo friend who feels it necessary to forward every piece of crap literature he comes across on the internet (stupid jokes, chain letters, etc.).
In Outlook Express....I use the mail rules and set up unwanted email to be deleted from my mail server. That way it doesn't go into the deleted folder or junk folder. The sender never knows that their email ever goes through. It makes it as far as the mail server then it's deleted.
You guys inadvertantly gave me a solution to a problem I've had for a couple of years now. I sometimes send myself a message to test my ISP email account connection and the message always ends up in the "Deleted" folder and I never could figure out why. So, after reading your posts this morning I looked thru the names in my "Blocked Senders List" and there in the middle was my own name. How I blocked myself I'll never know.
Did my Mother raise a fool? I guess she did.
Thank's everybody. I alway's knew you were good for something.
