94 F350 Drivetrain Fluids
I just bought a 94 F350 at auction and have no manual to refer to. Can someone tell what fluid types I should use for the transmission,transfer case and diffs. The trany is a manual 5 speed so I assume a 80/90 gear lube will be ok for that. The tranfer case is a Borg Warner and I am unsure if it uses Dextron or the same above gear lube. How about the diff's?

Thanks for the welcome and replies. Is the Dexron/Mercon an automatic transmission fluid? If so how come a manual would use it? Sorry for the dumb question. This is my first Ford truck so I'm sure I'll have more questions down the line. I'm looking forward to getting another Ford in the next year or so.

Yes, It is an Automatic Transmission Fluid. ATF has been standard fare for manual transmissions and transfer cases for 10-15 years now. It has a lower viscosity and therefore offers less oil drag on the gears. Translation: Better gas mileage. Probably gives better cooling and contaminant dispersion as well. I'm not sure about that so if someone else knows for sure just let us know. Wouldn't want to be putting out bad info.
