Theres a dana 60 balljoint axle on Ebay and its within driving distance for me. Before I bid on it, can anyone enlighten me as to options for a high steer arm for the pass. side knuckle?? it would probably need to be machined too, correct?? Also what kind of steering clearance are people getting out of these housings with 38-40 tire sizes and various backspacing?? I realize the kingpin is stronger and more easily adapted for high steer, but the balljoints should be adequate for my purposes. My bidding limit will be more dependent on the high steer obstacles that would be encountered with this axle. Thanx
Im curious about this also. I've spent most of my time here reasearching and rebuilding my Kingpin D60 that i never even thought about the ball joint D60's. (and High steer is when you move the tie rod above the leaf springs, Cross-over or X-over steering is when the drag link is attatched to the passenger side knuckle)
Check out Off road unlimited http://www.offroadunlimited.com/stor...hp?cPath=22_39 or give them a call to make sure they have something for the axle your bidding on. They specialize in cross-over steering. Im sure they can set you up with something, but I can't say that it will be cheap.
I got my cross over steering arm from them, and they seem to be the only ones who sell one with a 2 inch raised arm instead of all the other ones that are flat.
It looks like the same arm I got. It didn't fit the studs worth a crap, they sent another one and it was the same way. You could put the stock one back to it's back and see the difference. I ended up drilling them out bigger till it fit.

I got mine at a show special price of a $109 including taxes and free s/h. I did have to open up the holes a little bit with a dremel, but just a tiny bit (used the gasket as a guide). The bolts slid in nice and snug.
