I'm trying to determine for sure if my truck is a 67 and matches the title I have. I don't have the truck with me to check the VIN on the frame to be sure, so until then I'm trying to decipher the descrepencies. The door panels are from a 68-72 model, but someone suggested that the internals in these doors wouldn't interchange so my doors might not be original. Will they interchange?
The cab has the roof mounted mirror so I believe the cab is a 67, so to confirm I was trying to check out the heater controls in my pics and to my surprise there are no heater controls on the dash. What's the deal with that? Was there a seperate heater (possibly a/c as well) box that could have been removed that would have meant no controls in the dash? Or did they make trucks with no heater?
Adding to the mystery is the bed is a later model bed with the rear lights along the trim line, unless someone added the lights or something. But all the paint matches, so maybe someone pieced together all these and then repainted the truck sometime back. I don't know, and it's driving me crazy. But maybe that's just not having it with me to work an play with. Any info would be great, thanks.
there is a vin # on the front right frame rail that should be the origonal and yes the internals are different on a 67 from 68 to 72 but the doors will interchange and if there are trim lights at the back of the bed its a later bed. your average goe will never notice, some of us will but that doesnt take away from the truck. specially when parts are gettin thinner daily. heater delete would be interesting . ive never seen one but that doesnt mean they dont exist. check the frame to match the other vin on the door and title and you can post codes here if you havent and get it deciphered
On my 67 the heater controls are under the radio in the center of the dash, they are cable actuated (push/pull) type switches and there are holes in the dash for them. I would think that if you had a 67 the holes would still be there...
If you google 67 f100 you get a page that helps identify different years of the F100 in the 67 to 72 era... not sure if links are allowed to be posted but I'll try, if it isnt there, contact me on this site and I'll send you the link. http://w ww.Site not allowed.com/67-72ID.htm

Yeah, I know about the VIN on the frame. I meant that when I said cab, I've edited my post to correct it. But as I said the truck isn't here for me to check it.
I knew the doors would interchange but I didn't know about the internals. That's dissappointing because I much prefer the 67 doors.
As I said, it's likely a later model bed according to the lights. Possible they were added, but I doubt it.
The biggest mystery is the missing heater controls beneath the radio. There's no delete plate, it's as if the truck didn't come with them at all. That or they were somewhere else or someone removed the controls, welded up the hole(s) and painted over it. There's a picture in my gallery for "Bluebell".
Jdbanks,
I have a '67 also. There was actually two heater options. The deluxe version will have three *****. The economy version will have only one, larger ****. I do not believe that there is a heater delete option, like you could get with the radio delete. I think that vehicles would be required by law to at least have a defrost mechanism
You might want to check behind the dash and see if the holes were there, and got filled in. I agree that all vehicles must have a defrost, so they can't offer a heater delete option. Is the heater box still there, along with the fan and core?
Here's the picture I'm going off of. 67 missing controls
Hopefully will have the truck with me in a couple of weeks to take a closer look and figure some things out.
i ran into the same problem with my 72 the last owner swapped a 67 cab on to it the heater control is under the radion they are cables that are push and pull no the slide type that is on the 68 to 72.
Yes, I know what type of controls are used on the different models and I know what to look for. But if you'll look at the picture you'll see there's nothing there at all.
I think that in-cab heater control was a option in 67', check the heater hoses under thr hood there should be a manual valve on one of then to turn waterflow from the heatercore on and off.
Ive looked at a lot of 67's over the years on the truck in the photos on the right side of the column is one of the ***** a choke and the other one the heater controler like on the 65-66 models just one **** to operate the heater.
Try sticking your hand up behind the panel and feel around if it was bondo'd or welded over it likely be neerly impossible to finish the back side smooth. also didn't the earlier years 67-69 have a stamped metal dash not plastic but over 30 years is alot of time for changing stuff.
