I need some help! I had my check engine light come on and decided to buy a OBD II code reader to find out what it was. It gave me a reading of P1401. I have replaced the DPFE sensor, the EGR valve, and the EVR. What else can I do?
I heard somewhere that a new DPFE has to be either metal or plastic and they are not interchangable?
You might have to look over the circuits, the problem may not be mechanical, but instead, electrical.
P1401 - DPFE Sensor Circuit High Voltage Detected
The EGR monitor checks the DPFE sensor signal to the PCM for high voltage. The test fails when the average voltage to the PCM goes to a voltage greater than the maximum calibrated value.
Possible causes:
l Damaged DPFE sensor
l DPFE SIG circuit open
l VREF short to PWR
l DPFE SIG circuit short to PWR
l SIG RTN circuit open
l Damaged PCM
On some OBD-II systems, plugged hoses running from the DPFE to the EGR tube will also set off a P1401.
Hope this helps, good luck with the troubleshooting.
