Hey guys, I just recently pulled the P1401 code on my truck and need to get the sensor fixed before my next emissions test. I called the dealer and they quoted me $116 for the new sensor. Is there any other place that I could buy this sensor without hollowing out my wallet?
ya, already tried both checker and autozone and they both had no idea what a DPFE sensor was. I talked to the local dealer and they quoted me at $116............so um ya.
I bought mine from autozone here in La.$60 but it didnt fix my code(same as yours),I had to clean carbon from upper intake.Go to autozone.com and look it up and take part# you find back to store.
replaced mine today...got it at autozone. when they pull up the egr valve for your vehicle its listed at the pressure or position sensor....mine cost 27 dollars
I had to replace mine on my 96, and at the time, it was a dealer only item @ around $100. It stands for something like Differential Pressure F? E?. I gues over time they fail due to the moisture in the system. I took mine apart and it was all wet inside.
I just had mine replaced yesterday and it didn't solve the problem. I still have a rough idle(no stalling) and the CEL came back on. Any ideas. What does this DPFE do?
NEVER replace an EGR valve for these code unless you KNOW it's bad. They very seldom fail.
Guys, especially all you new ones in this thread, it is very important that you identify your vehicle's specifics, ie, year engine, transmission, drivetrain. Put it in your signature and you won't need to edit or add to any of your previous posts. A simple entry such as "1999 4.6 4R70W 4X4" is the perfect information to give.
DPFE sensors from certain years have an extended warranty of 2 years/24K miles beyond your original 3/36 warranty. Your faulty DPFE sensors may be free if you still qualify.
Go to the top of every web page, click on Recalls/TSBs, select Full Text TSBs, then review the full text bulletins for your truck. You can also enter DTCs as a SEARCH argument of the TSB database to see if there are any relevent bulletins for your current fault code. (There are several TSBs for the codes currently under discussion).
Many codes are extraordinarily common subjects of discussions. A simple SEARCH of the website using your fault code as the SEARCH argument will bring up previous discussions.
The DPFE is on the side of the throttle body and it has two vaccuum lines attached to it. Two screws hold it in place. I just replaced mine and it didn't solve the problem. I removed the throttle body this weekend along with the EGR valve and WOW, tons of carbon build up. Got it cleaned and the light is now off. Still idling rough though. Changed the fuel filter too as well as cleaned the MAS. I have the same truck as you, 2001 F150 4.6 2WD SUPERCREW AUTO.
