Unhappy secter shaft seal problem

I read the fourm and without asking one question, I was able to remove the pitman arm replace the seal and stop the leak. Now guess what keeps happening???? Everytime I turn my steering wheel real hard, it blows out the seal and the o-snap ring. I know.... the snap ring is not seating in the grove. Well I have put it on three times now and everytime I hear is snap in to place.

Has anybody had this problem? The kit came with a new snap ring... should I put the old one back on. I am at a loss any sugustions would help

Just a thought, but snap rings are usually stamped out of a sheet of metal. There should be a "rounded" edge side and a flat edge side. If by chance, you keep re-installing it with the rounded side towards where the pressure is being applied, it could pop off. Try to make sure the flat or squared off edge is against the pressure side. Or, put the old back in.
