I have been considering the sonnax for some time. My question is: I have the SCMT now(it is much much better than stock), will installing the sonnax give me improvement worth doing it?
the sonnax makes your tranny shift the way it should... that's all it does... other than putting a better torque converter in your tranny that's all you should have to do with your tranny unless you are gonna make some crazy power.... i love my sonnax... tranny is smoother, shifts faster and smoother, and puts the power the motor is making ON THE GROUND..!
I agree the Sonnax/Tricumulator mod is the preferred way to go.
However, unless you can turn off the transmission mods from the SCMT then your shifts will probably be pretty harsh. The SCMT raises the line pressure in your tranny to achieve firmer shifts. With the Sonnax/Tricumulator mod it already accomplishes this with stock line pressure.
I you do run both, then let us know how it works out for you.
sorry... i didn't know that the scmt changes your shift pressure... if you can't turn that function off then i would NOT recomend that you put the sonnax in... my predator tuner does the same with the tranny shifts but i can choose a "stock" setting on the tranny using the predator tunes and the predator book specifically says to use the "stock" setting only if you have a shift kit installed...

I've got a complete TransGo "Tugger" kit in mine. It included the Sonnax. I've also got a SCMT. I've run in all modes, and have had no issues at all with the two working together. You'll be glad you did. Complete different truck.
The shifts are not too harsh??? I am not familiar with the TransGo kit.
Did the SCMT change your shifts before you installed the shift kit? I would think that with a shift kit and increased line pressure you would have a neck snapper?

The Superchips didn't do anything but nudge the shifts a little. The truck now has a firm positive shift that isn't harsh in anyway.
The TransGo Tugger is designed to give you more positive control of the transmission while going down hills with a load. In a stock tranny.....you get a neutral spot, and delay in the downshifts. With the Tugger installed....you get the gear you want right away. Almost like having a stick in this situation. Then they threw in the Sonnax and tripple springs to improve the shift performance. It's a nice combination for towing.....but the Tugger install does require surgery, and isn't for the "faint at heart". The Sonnax and Superchips is a good combination though for your setup. And the Sonnax is a easy afternoon job.

gotta agree with kwazyca... sonnax shifts are nice... firm and solid... quick but not harsh at all... smooth the way they should be... but not a "car" shift like my truck used to have... it is a 1 ton truck after all... not a lexus...
