93 chevy question,
Hey guys, i have a quick question, i just picked up a 93 chevy, well gmc pickup for free, but anyways heres my question, it runs pretty rough, but had been taken care of, fuel pressure is good, fuel filter is new, it tends to run not so good and sometimes backfire, i was thinking maby a cap and rotor, or a coil. whacha all think? oh i pulled some codes too, well tryed it didnt have none. thanks guys, hopefully i can make it run good and get rid of it to fund the painting of my f-150

Vortehc is GM's poor attempt at a multi-port injection system for the masses. Basically, it was a single fuel-metering solenoid with lines going to each cylinder, with a sprayer on the end. Everything is inside the aluminum intake, so when the fuel pressure regulator fails, it dumps raw gas straight down the engine. Also, you can't just replace the regulator, you have to replace the injector assembly, which is the solenoid, lines, and regulator, available from the dealership only. I just finished fixing this system on a friends S-10 Blazer about a month ago. It probably would have been cheaper for him to carb the thing.

i figured it out, it was a coolant temp sensor, seems it thought it was really cold, and was flooding it out,
$21 later its all better,
after I did plugs, coil, cap, and rotor,
no big deal,
oh and its pre-vortec. its a TBI, thank god. im not a big fan of the fuel injection system in a vortec, its got the distributor, type.
