Do you make your 8 in one stroke or with 2 circle's? I'm asking out of curiosity because I remember when I was taught this they emphasized the one stroke method, which is how I make mine. But I don't feel there is a right or wrong way, just whatever the individual feels more comfortable doing.
one stroke both methods:
truck, swift stroke of the gas to the floor and steer accordingly to produce figure eight, don't say I have ever tried to make two circle to for an eight though.
writing, make an eight that looks like two circles but all in one stroke.
I don't write, I type. But if I have to write, I print. The only cursive I can do is my signature, and that's illegible. But then so is my printing. I'm dyslexic and switch everything around, make the loops on my d's and b' reversed, that sort of thing. As for the 8's, I use the continuous line method but if it comes out hard to read I go back over it with 2 loops. Or, if I'm trying very hard to make it legible and neat, I'll use 2 loops in the first place. And I cross my sevens, have ever since I lived in Sweden. -TD
I didn't take drafting, but I took a course on some kind of drafting in my trade school. So for that, everyone in the class learned how to print properly on a "blueprint". So if I'm ever making one of those drawings again, it's an 8 with two circles. Any other time it's one stroke. But if it's hard to read, I go over it with 2 circles.
I don't cross my 7's or Z's. I sometimes cross my zeroes. Usually on a tax form when there's nothing to enter.
I also print everything in upper case. I write birthday cards for my family, and print on birthday cards for my wife's family.
When I graduated from high school, well, coming up through high school, we were doing a change over from handing in assignments on looseleaf paper to printed Word documents. But there wasn't supposed to be any spell checking (honour system). They could tell by what your spelling was like before the change over, and how many times you were corrected on tests, compared to what you handed in.
Getting to my point, any formal documents I make now is done on my computer. No problems reading arial font.
